Bored Directors- meeting Minutes

Quorum? Yes

BOD members absent: None

BOD members have been fishing and traveling since we last met so the meeting started off with fishing reports from Guy, Rick, Mike G, Dave and Ken.

Sam gave us an update for our upcoming fishing trip to the Trinity River in November

Mike G- gave an update for our upcoming N Umpqua and Washington steelhead trip for February/March 2026

Ideas for 2026 include the San Juan in New Mexico, Bighorn in Montana, Snake River ID or WY. Laurie will check prices.

Approval was given for advertising our products the Stick Saver and Butt Warmer on the website.

Rick encouraged Laurie to call Holly Channel to change the date of our fishing day as it was continuing to snow heavily. If we can't fish Monday, it was suggested we hold a golf tournament in the hotel hallway and get together in the evenings to watch the World Series.

The group unanimously voted renaming the Bobber Award the Bobber/Stupidity award. This allowed us to give Ken Davis 1 point for stepping on a sewer lid and falling through. Also 1 point to Dave Lentz for spending $1,000 on a bottle of bourbon.

Dave requested that The Bug” be removed from the website. Ken said he would do it for $5. Six BOD members immediately contributed $5 each for Ken to keep the dance on. We thought the dance would remain on the website, but when Ken told Dave if he could match the $30 the dance would be removed. Dave complied. 

This turned out to be the best fundraiser we have ever had. Our treasury now contains a whopping $123.67!!

BOD minutes/ notes for May (I think it’s May…..Is it May, Rick?)

Where: North Platte,, Alcova, WY, Trout on Inn

When 5/16/24

Quorum?: Yes

BOD members absent: None

Penalties for anything, including missing a BOD meeting will be reduced from $20 to $2. Our Sergeant at Arms can enforce the late payment of 10% (or 20 cents). As an alternative, instead of paying, you can accept ½ bobber point.

“Friends in Low Places” by Garth Brooks “was unanimously chosen as our theme song.

Laurie was voted Senior Vice President for Programs with 7 votes for and 1 (Laurie) opposed. 

Fall River Lazy Hazy was unanimously voted as our official beer.

Bobber the Cat was voted our North Platte mascot.

“Bunny” the (?) is our North Umpqua mascot.

It was supported that Dave can wear an alternate costume in lieu of the French Maid outfit to our next BOD meeting. We were all intrigued by his description which included underwear and an apron.

Becoming a real corporation to write off expenses was voted down as the government hassle would be too great.

Ericka Mitchel and Mary Ellen Mueller were voted as our trip’s Technical and Ethical Advisors.

We need someone to design a letterhead.

New marketing ideas include:

· App controlled indicator.

· Dial a River brace

· Sam-O-Grams

· Sam SuckerS

Our trips for 2024 included:

· Umpqua- March

· Pyramid Lake- April

· Wyoming-May

· Lower Sac/and or Trinity/Feather- November – Guy will make arrangements.

Possible trips for 2025 include:

· Washington- Jan or Feb- (Mike G)

· Umpqua- March

· Pyramid- April

· San Juan River, New Mexico- May or June (Laurie)

· Missouri, Montana – Early October (Laurie)

· We met guides from Colorado who suggested we try fishing the CO River, Eagle and Frying Pan in March. The BOD thought that was a little early and cold and would prefer a later date.  Laurie will contact them for more information.

· Other ideas include the Snake River in WY or Idaho

If I’ve left out any information, or have made any errors, don't tell me cuz I don't care.

BOD minutes/ notes for April

Where: Pyramid Lake, NV

When 4/11/24

Quorum?: Yes

BOD members absent: Dave Lentz  & Guy Deaner

An impromptu BOD meeting was called at Trailer #9, during happy hour.

It was decided that a pre-Wyoming trip meeting was important to coordinate food and get additional information.

· Laurie will look for openings  to reserve the East Ranch Clubhouse for a meeting and send  out possible dates for us to get together.

· Ken will work on the Wyoming PowerPoint presentation

Two members were absent, and it was agreed they should suffer some consequences for their choices. Since Guy is our sommelier it was decided he would have to serve us the wine at the planning meeting. Since Dave makes great enchiladas, he could serve us the food. We believe having consequences will help lessen absenteeism in the future.

After a few more beers, the conversation rapidly deteriorated, (imagine that). It was suggested the absentees should serve us in a servant style outfit. French maid was suggested.

 Mike G found an appropriate outfit on Amazon, for a mere $15.95 (see photo). A vote was taken and by unanimous decision Guy and Dave will be given two choices. 

They can buy/serve us wearing these outfits or put $20 in the samseaton.com bank account and wear whatever they want to serve us. We all hope they will choose the latter as we need more money in our account { …..okay, that’s not the real reason…) 

 If they choose the first option, bring your sunglasses (for glare) and dollar bills. Failure to comply will result in 2 bobber points each.

Here are my notes from the March BOD meeting and other stuff I remember. As you know I can’t read my writing, so some info may be totally wrong. 

Action items:

· Laurie has a list of questions to ask our WY guide and the Trout on Inn. She will get back to everyone with that info soon.
